Clinical Research

In research, a clinical trial is a study to evaluate a new treatment. A research study is designed to answer a scientific question in order to improve health care for patients. Clinical trials include treatment trials, prevention trials, screening trials and quality of life trials. A treatment trial tests new treatments such as a new drug, a new surgical method or a type of radiation treatment. A prevention trial tests how to prevent a disease or how to prevent a disease from returning. A screening trial looks at the best way to find a disease such as mammograms. Quality of life trials look at ways to assist or to improve the quality of life for patients.
